Raised amid the beauty and serenity of Michigan’s pristine Upper Peninsula, on the shore of Lake Michigan, Sean Depuydt grew to appreciate the uniqueness of his surroundings. He became interested in photography while living overseas in the 1980s. Sean's hobby became a skilled passion as he slowly made his way home from Europe, where he took photographs in several countries, to the East Coast of the United States, and finally back to the place that inspired his passion the Great Lakes of Michigan. Sean captures not only images, but also the mood and uniqueness of otherwise everyday places. His patient, minimalist approach to photography produces beautiful artwork.
Being a resident of Escanaba, on and off, all his life, Sean has come to appreciate the surroundings in which we live. “With my photography I feel that I capture a sense and mood of special areas and things in or environment that people frequent each day.”
Sean and his wife Maggie are very busy with raising their 6 children. Most days Sean and Maggie can be found settling toy ownership disputes between their children. But when he is not, Sean is either studying the art of photography or can be found, making beautiful images of Ludington Park, or one of many beautiful areas of the U.P.
